The Election Commission of India implemented the code of conduct in all the five poll bound states consisting of Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Uttarakhand, Goa and Manipur with immediate effect. All the candidates will have to thoroughly follow the code of conduct imposed by Election Commission and action will be taken against those violating the rules implemented by EC.
According to the rules of the code of conduct, the expenditure limit by the candidates in Punjab, Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh is set to be Rs 28 lakh whereas the expenditure limit in the states of Manipur and Goa is Rs 20 lakhs. The Commission will also be monitoring on the expenditure done by every candidate and EC is committed to prevent the misuse of funds and black money by the candidates.
EC will also be monitoring the TV channels and paid news will be addressed by Press Club of India which will take actions against such channels and publications. The commission will also monitor TV channels and publications owned by politicians and if any news or publication are used to spread such propaganda, action will be taken against such channels or publications.
